Dear Parent or Guardian:

The Oxnard High School administrative staff is busily preparing for your son’s/daughter’s graduation on June 15, 2018.  We want the OHS 2018 graduation to be a memorable event for your family; therefore, we need your cooperation to ensure that all who attend will enjoy the planned ceremony.

June 13 and 14 are mandatory rehearsal dates.  Your student must attend both days.  Check-in time is 8:00 a.m. in the large gym and will end at or about 12:00 p.m. This will help us guarantee a smooth and well-executed ceremony.  Distribution of Caps and Gowns will take place in the big gym Tuesday, June 12, beginning at 1:00 p.m.  A 2017-18 student ID or picture ID is required when picking up the gown.

Be advised, balloons, bouquets, air horns or banners are strictly prohibited.  In addition, per the Oxnard Fire Department, due to safety/overcrowding, all walkways must remain clear. Viewers will not be allowed to congregate in these areas! We want everyone to be able to see and hear the entire ceremony.  Please keep in mind that school will be in session from 8:00 a.m. to 12:26 p.m. on June 15.  At 12:30PM, seating will be according to color coded tickets. Each graduate will receive 8 tickets for seating.  If you require handicap seating, please complete the bottom portion of this letter and return it to Kailey Pettersen, Administrative Secretary, by Friday, June 8. Those requiring handicap seating will be issued a BLUE handicap ticket as one of the eight tickets issued. If needed, one (1) caretaker would be permitted in the handicapped area with an issued color-coded ticket. VIP parking is available to individuals who display a legal blue “Handicapped” decal on their car windshield (spaces are limited).  

A professional photographer from Grad Images will be taking pictures of the graduates and photo packages will be available for your purchase.  After the ceremony, you will be allowed onto the field to take pictures of your graduate on the stage.

At the end of the processional, the graduates will circle the field to be presented to the audience as the Graduating Class of 2018.  At that time, parents/guardians are invited to come down onto the field to congratulate them. Diplomas will be available for pick up June 18-22, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. with proper student identification.  Thereafter, diplomas will be available in the Administration Office 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

You must adhere to the below when decorating your graduation cap.  Failure to do so would result in non-participation in the graduation ceremony.

  • NO offensive language, sayings, nicknames, PICTURES, or song lyrics.
  • NO objects such as signs, stuffed animals, bells, FLOWERS or any 3D object.
  • ALL decorations MUST LAY FLAT on the cap (Objects cannot stand upright).
  • NO bells, horns, or anything that makes noise.

The following are appropriate cap decorations:

  • A “Thank You” to a parent, grandparent, teacher, guardian, or mentor.
  • Recognition of the college/university you will be attending.
  • Career/Military you want to pursue.
  • Inspirational or motivational quotes.
  • OHS Spirit/Athletic/Activity.


Parking is a first come, first serve basis. This includes handicapped parking. Additional parking will be aloud on all white zones of Gonzalez Rd and Victoria Ave. If you purchased a VIP parking pass, there will be someone to direct you to the VIP Section of the parking lot. Please have your pass accessible when entering the parking lot. Oxnard High School encourages you to carpool or use other means of transportation like Uber or Lyft.


If any student is caught bringing in, found on the body, or is caught during the ceremony with any contraband items before or during graduation, that student will not be able to walk during the graduation ceremony or will be pulled from the field to leave immediately. As a result, he student will need to complete 15 hours of community service, agreed on by the principal, to be able to receive their high school diploma.

Oxnard High School takes graduation very seriously and we hold students to the highest standard and respect. We expect all students to abide by all the rules. Participating in Graduation is a privilege, not a right!

These contraband items include but are not limited to:

  • ANY blow-up balloon, animal, pool float, ball etc.
  • Water toys
  • Air horns or noise makers


Senior Finals: 

June 8 (period 5 and 6)

June 11 (period 3 and 4)

June 12 (period 1 and 2)

Cap and Gowns: June 12th at 12:30 in the Big Gym

MANDATORY Practice: June 13 and 14

Ticket Distribution: June 14th directly following rehearsal (8 tickets per graduate)

Diploma Pick Up June 18-22 8am-12pm – Main Office – Must have photo ID

Attention 2018 senior class,  if you need a final transcript please come to the records office to fill out your request as soon as possible. Transcripts can ONLY be picked up by student starting June 28th 2018.

Previous graduates, if you need to request a transcript you can place your request by coming in to our office or you may mail it in along with a five dollar money order paid to Oxnard High School, Attention Records, 3400  W. Gonzalez Rd, Oxnard, CA 93036.  All official transcripts are $5 each and unofficial are free. All requests will be processed within three business days from the date the request  was received.
