OXNARD HIGH SCHOOL
March 26, 2019
Dear Parent or Guardian:
The Oxnard High School administrative staff is busily preparing for your son’s/daughter’s graduation on June 14, 2019. We want the OHS 2019 graduation to be a memorable event for your family; therefore, we need your cooperation to ensure that all who attend will enjoy the planned ceremony.
June 12 and 13 are mandatory rehearsal dates. Your student must attend both days. Check-in time is 8:00 a.m. in the Big Gym and will end approximately at 12:00 p.m. This will help to guarantee a smooth and well-executed ceremony. Distribution of cap and gowns will take place in the College and Career Center, Friday, May 31, 2019, during through senior English classes. A 2018-19 student ID or picture ID will be required when picking up cap and gowns. Senior Check-Out forms will be available on Monday, June 3, 2019 and will be distributed through senior English classes. Graduation tickets will be distributed in the Big Gym on Thursday, June 13th after rehearsal. A student picture ID and completed Senior Checkout form will be required when picking up tickets.
Please be advised that balloons, bouquets, air horns or banners are strictly prohibited. To ensure safety and to prevent overcrowding, the Oxnard Fire Department, has mandated that all walkways remain clear at all times; viewers will not be allowed to congregate in these areas! We want everyone to be able to see and hear the entire ceremony. Please keep in mind that school will be in session from 8:00 a.m. to 12:26 p.m. on June 14.
At 12:30PM, seating will be assigned by color coded tickets; each graduate will receive 8 tickets. If you require handicap seating, please email Tammy Byrd (firstname.lastname@example.org), Administrative Secretary, by Friday, June 7. Those requiring handicap seating will be issued a BLUE handicap ticket as one of the eight tickets issued. If needed, one (1) caretaker will be permitted in the handicapped area with an issued color-coded ticket. VIP parking is available to individuals who display a legal blue “Handicapped” decal on their car windshield (spaces are limited).
A professional photographer from Grad Images will be taking pictures of the graduates and photo packages will be available for your purchase. After the ceremony, you will be allowed onto the field to take pictures of your graduate on the stage.
At the end of the ceremony, the graduates will circle the field and be presented to the audience as the Graduating Class of 2019. At the end of the recessional, parents/guardians are invited to come down onto the field to congratulate them. Diplomas will be available for pick June 17-21, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., with proper student identification, in the Administration Office.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. We look forward to celebrating the successes of the Class of 2019 on June 14, 2019!
