PTA Reflections Celebration and Awards Night

Congratulations to Evelyn Alcaraz Vargas for her award at the PTSA 12th District Awards night on Monday, January 6th. Her photo entry was phenomenal and her words poetic. Thank to Evelyn for being a great Yellow Jacket and her parents for raising such a fine young woman.

OHS Garden Cafe

The OHS Garden Cafe’ has officially opened its doors to faculty and staff for Ms. Gallagher’s Advanced Food Service & Hospitality students to offer a weekly delivery service of breakfast items, smoothies, and juices. Last week’s soft opening left the students discussing and questioning how they will make process more efficient. Their hard work paid off this week with many compliments from faculty and staff. The smoothie lead, Paloma Esparza, used her talents from working for Big Straw Boba, John Neri’s work experience at Krispy Kreme helped the coffee/latte station, Trevor Caffee’s In-n-Out experience not only helped with the juicing station but with the entire operation. Newbie cooks Francisco Chavez and Jonathan Rodriguez perfected the sandwich station, leaving it spotless, and Pete Gleeson and Dominic Herrera are becoming master burrito makers. The students will be working toward running the cafe’ completely on their own preparing them to produce a business plan by the end of the year. They are also about to all have their ServSafe Manager certification and all hold their Food Handler’s cards.

Honors Commercial Photography

Honors Commercial Photography students photographed the OHS Women’s Soccer team in the studio before the winter break. The girls tracked the studio up with mud from their cleats showing us they know how to get dirty and play hard.

World Cuisine

Mrs. Vogt’s World Cuisine class is studying Italian food and made a delicious Panna Cotta with Blueberry Coulis. Ms. Tanner’s Commercial Photography class made our dessert look perfect in photos!
