College and Career Center

The first ever OHS Application RUSH Week was held this past week in the College and Career Center. Students got to work on their college applications while snacking on some goodies. The UC/CSU deadline is approaching fast as we encouraged the students to get help before Thanksgiving break. Throughout the week the group of students grew from 10 to 30. Students that came in they were given a lanyard and stickers and once they applied, they got their picture taken and put up on the “I Applied” Wall of Fame as well as getting a “Power Futures” T-shirt. Overall RUSH Week had a positive impact on our students and playing a small part in helping them plan for their POWER FUTURES!

ROTC

Last week, with Veterans Day weekend in focus, ROTC was busy. On Thursday, 07 Nov 19, we had Cadets represent the program at the CTE expo. Friday, our Color Guard team presented at the football game. On Saturday, the Color Guard team continued, presenting at the 50th Annual Buena Ventura David Graham Swim Meet in the morning, and at Ventura College for the Veterans Appreciation game in the evening. One group of Cadets helped with the Band Competition held here on Saturday, and another group of us headed to Figueroa Mountain in Santa Ynez for the CTS Gran Fondo, a bike race up and down the mountain, finishing in Solvang. On Monday, the Cadets participated in the Oxnard Veterans Day parade. We finished with our planned events on Tuesday, presenting the Colors at the Knights of Columbus Veterans Dinner. The Cadets did spectacular managing these events.
