Yellow Jacket Pride
A message from our Principal Mr. Richard Urias. As we bring the 2018/19 school year to a close, I am deeply appreciative of all the work put in by so many to ensure a safe, clean, and happy campus for our students. Our school is a living breathing community where students are feed by nutrition staff, cared for by our nurse, cleaned up after by our custodians, provided extra supports by our paraprofessionals and special education staff, looked after by campus supervisors, transported safely by our bus drivers, serviced by our office staff, advocated for by our counselors, and taught real skills by our teachers. We are truly a large village where everyone plays an important role in the upbringing of our students. The hours are long and the work is hard so it takes someone with a big heart for kids to do it – someone like you! Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our students. Please take this well-deserved time to rest and recharge so we can do it even better next year! Have a great summer.
Last Friday, May 31st Ms. Schmitz’s AVID classes presented their research on Cesar Chavez. Groups developed their unique research question based upon their class reading of Cesar Chavez’s biography. They created posters based on the answer they found to their question and presents those finding to both students and staff in a gallery walk.
Tuesday, Ileana Gonzalez, an OHS AVID alumnus and current UC Berkeley student, came and shared her story with our AVID 9th graders.
