Breaking the Silence is a charity concert providing awareness on mental illness by uniting our generation’s stories, with their passion for the performing arts. By starting a conversation it creates an environment for us to open up and help end the stigma surrounding mental illness. The show will be on May 11 at the OHS Performing Arts Center at 6 PM. Tickets are available for $5 at the library, see Mrs. Brickey. All the proceeds are donated to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.”

It’s back–the 3rd Annual OHS Poetry Slam 2019 hosted by the library and ASB!!!!  This school year, the Slam will be held on May 30 during a 4 A/B schedule. A total of 15 contestants will compete with 5 top poets moving on to the Slam finals–all within the 2-hour block. So that more students can hear the poems, the top 5 finalists will perform their poems in the quad on Friday 5/31 during lunch; the winner will also be announced. Submissions are due by Friday, May 10th.  The  Slam‘s theme, “Through Me, You Will See,” was chosen by the OHS students. Use the flyers posted around campus or in your teachers’ rooms to submit your poem. Simply scan the QR code and submit. You MUST use your school email ( to submit your poem. Remember that Mr. Salinas runs poetry workshops every late-start Tuesday and every Thursday afternoon at the Pacific View Mall.
