Ready to ignite your love of reading and writing? Go beyond traditional, academic writing and dive deep into your creative space and cultivate your voice by joining the summer school course “Creative Writing: Introduction to Storytelling.” This course runs from July 1 through July 26, Monday through Thursday from 1:30-3:30 pm. SENIORS, if you scored “Standard Exceeded” OR “Standard Met” on the CAASPP summative assessment for English Language Arts; AND passed AP Spanish/Chinese/French/Latin/Italian/German or Japanese AP Exam with at least a 3 then you might qualify for the prestigious California Seal of Biliteracy. Our Spring Rally – That 70s Rally – is next Friday, March 15th. Make sure to be there to watch our talented dance groups and participate in games and free giveaways. Its also where the Prom theme and venue will be announced.

Our Spirit days for next week are here. They are: Vintage Hippie Monday, so dress in your best hippie outfit. Tuesday is Mathlete vs. Athlete so wear your smarty, sporty or combine your entire outfit to fit both. Wednesday is Brady Bunch Day, so dress up matching with your bestie. Power to the People is Thursday so come wearing a color that supports a 70s movement or support a cause you love by wearing for everyone to see. Friday is Disco Fever Friday so wear your best disco outfit and match it with Jacket Fever gear.

OHS and PHS are collaborating on Caile to the Baile – a Spanish dance which will be held at PHS on Friday, March 15th at 7 P.M. Purchase your tickets in the ASB room or with the book keeper now. $7 with ASB, $12 w/out and $15 for guests. Guest passes are available in the ASB room and are due by next Wed., March 12th. Only one ticket per OHS student and only one guest per OHS student. A current ID – not student vue – is needed to purchase the ticket and enter the dance

You can now order their AP exams from the ASB bookkeeper. The deadline is March 22, 2019. You can get all the necessary forms from t AP teachers.

Clubs/ Organizations:

Calling all performing artists! Breaking the Silence is going to be holding open auditions for their 2019 show on March 14th & 15th at 4 PM in the PAC. Come try out, guitarists, dancers, poets, yo-yo artists, everyone is welcome! Audition and help end the stigma around mental illness.

Any student interested in participating in the Historically Black Colleges & Universities tour in April 13 – 20, please see Mrs. Baylor as soon as possible for more information.

College and career center:

The District Career Fair is on March 22.  Sophomores – Seniors grades are encouraged to participate.  Permission forms are available in the College & Career Center.  Space is limited so return your permission forms early to guarantee your participation.
