Age Eligibility: 15 ½

Student will earn a Certificate upon successful completion of this course.

 

Attention students: Cyber High will start Monday, February 4, 2019. Please plan your transportation accordingly. Once again, Cyber High will begin Monday, February 4th for both zero and 7th period.

Calling all Freshmen! Elections for your Class President and Vice President will be held this Thursday and Friday during lunch in front of the College & Career Center. Please bring your ID and vote. The 3 candidates are Athena Campos, Lauren Hernandez, and Madeline Jones. The elected officers will be announced the following week

OHS will celebrate ‘Week of Kindness’ next week, Feb. 4th-8th. Monday is “Stuffed with Kindness, so wear your PJs and favorite Teddy Bear. Tuesday is “Let your Kindness Shine” so wear bright colors, Wednesday is “Powered by Kindness,” so wear your superhero gear, Thursday is ‘Crazy for Kindness” so wear crazy socks and Friday is “Kindness Unites Us’ so wear your red spirit gear!” ASB members will be walking around campus handing out candy to everyone who participates!

 

Clubs/ Organizations:

ASB is hosting a blanket and hygiene drive until the end of February. The winter months are difficult for our most vulnerable populations, so any donation would be great! Please consider bringing a blanket, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, and more to the ASB room. Thank you!

The Buzz will be selling Valentine Grams today to Feb. 5th at the ASB windows. Purchase yours during lunch! All grams will be delivered on Valentine’s Day.

 

College and career center:

Beginning TODAY, the CCC will be closed all day (nutrition, lunch, and after school) most Wednesdays with the exception of scheduled workshops and appointments.

THE VERY LAST financial aid application workshop at Oxnard High will be on Thursday, 2/21.  Sign up in the career center.

Oxnard College is offering two FAFSA/DREAM ACT workshops, 2/9 and 2/23.  If you are attending a community college, trade school, or 4-year college, you need to complete the financial aid application for any financial assistance.

The deadline for applying for financial aid is 3/2.

Athletics:

Congratulations to the girls’ basketball team for their 74-43 victory over Pacifica Tuesday night. Malaykah Lumas led the way with 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Myesha Lumas had 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists, Ciara Gallagher had 10 pts and 9 assists, Jasmine Nichols had 10 points and 8 rebounds, Samantha McKenzie had 10 points and 5 rebounds, Jamie Lozano had 4 points and 6 rebounds and Monae Baxter had 6 points and 2 rebounds.  The Lady Yellow Jackets finished the regular season with a 20-6 record and came in first in the Pacific View League with a 10-0 record.
