Girls Soccer Team

On Wednesday, December 21st , we had Christina Murillo, a professional soccer player for the Mexico women’s national team and Chicago Red Stars, come talk to our 3 teams about soccer and life. She has much experience playing the game… she went to the Univ of Michigan and played in 3 world cups. She’s a great role model for our students and the girls were overly joyed to be in her presence. She is also the sister-in-law to one of our English teacher’s Ms. Crystal Murillo.

On Saturday, Dec 15, the Cadets assisted with the Tri-County GLAD Children’s Holiday Celebration held at the Oxnard Elk’s Lodge. The celebration was for deaf and hard of hearing children and their families. It was a Merry time for all!

Community Outreach Club

On Thursday, December 20, 2018 and Friday, December 21st members from the OHS Community Outreach Club wanted to do something special for our homeless and foster student population.  They bought reusable water bottles through fundraising activities and handed them out to selected students to try and encourage them to do their best.  This is an example of the great students we have at the Hive.  Way to go Jackets!

ASB Showcase

Congrats to our ASB as they showcased their Youth Participatory Action Research (Y.P.A.R.) projects to staff, students, community members, and district personnel. Their projects spanned a number of social justice issues students are facing in their lives – at our school, and in our community. These agents of change are propelling their findings to create positive change for our most vulnerable populations at OHS.
