Culinary Arts

Thanks to Anna Jackson and her OUHSD Farm2School team, the Culinary Arts and Environmental Science students spent an amazing day at the UC Hansen Agricultural Center in Santa Paula, formerly Faulkner Farms. The students spent time in four stations to learn about pests and pest control on farms, composting, then harvested beets and other vegetables, and proceeded to make their own salad to eat for lunch. The bus was filled with many happy students indeed.

AVID Club volunteered at the Ventura Marathon on October 21st. Students provided participants with energy gel and water while cheering both the half and full marathon runners as they made their way to the finish line. Our very own Ms. Molly Fitch ran the Half marathon and finished very respectably.

On Sunday, 21 October, 15 Cadets assisted with the Ventura Marathon. Some of the Cadets were in place as early as 6 am, ensuring the finish-line was ready to receive runners. Others were posted along the course to ensure runners stayed on course. The Cadets finished the day by cleaning Mission Park, which served as the reception area for the runners and their guest. Mission Accomplished!

Peer Resource

“Students in Peer Resource and Friday Night Live are leaders here on campus. They are advocates for drug and alcohol free lives for teens. This week they are using their voices to spread the red. They’re passing out ribbons and informing students about the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol on adolescent development and pledging to be drug and alcohol free. If you’re interested in joining their team, they have weekly meetings on Tuesdays in B-107 at lunch.”
