Student Section:

Jacket Jubilee is a festival with food, games and fun in the quad right after school next Friday (minimum day). You can purchase your event tickets for $1 each through Ms. Murray, the bookkeeper during nutrition on that Friday or during the Jubilee. Tickets will be exchanged instead of money for any food that is purchased or games that are played. This event is a great opportunity for students and staff to support our clubs and sport teams. Please come and enjoy a variety of food, treats and fun and show your Jacket spirit!

 Volunteer opportunity for students and staff: This Saturday is Coastal Clean-Up Day. Bring a trash bag, and a reusable water bottle and head to any local beach between the hours of 9am to 12 pm. Visit www.VcCoastCleanup.org for more information.

*Come celebrate the inauguration of Unique Shehee, OHS sophomore and last year’s Poetry Slam winner, as the very first ever Ventura County Youth Poet Laureate on Friday, September 21. She will be honored at the Museum of Ventura County in Ventura. The reception begins at 6:30 pm. All are welcome! See the library website or follow the library on Twitter for more details

Clubs/ Organizations

National Honors Society meeting.  If you are a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, come check out the National Honors Society meeting on Monday September 17 at lunch in room p-6.

Announcement: Do you enjoy Anime? If you do, please join us at Anime Club’s first meeting TODAY at lunch in room B-111.

Photography club will have their first meeting of the year on Sept. 20th in K117 at lunch. All new member welcome!

The Marching Band will be hosting Color Guard Tryouts TODAY. If you are interested in spinning a Flag, a Rifle or a Saber, come out Next Friday from 3:30 to 6pm in the Performing arts Center.

Black Student Union and Young Black Scholars will meet the 3rd Thursday of every month in the College & Career Center during lunch period.  The first meeting of the school year will be on 9/20.

College and career center:

Students…start planning your future now! College Night is Thursday, OCTOBER 11th starting at 5:45pm in the PAC. Workshops will be hosted by representatives from UC, CSU, Private and Out of State universities as well as Financial Aid and NCAA. Extra credit offered for selected classes.

*Seniors, if you want or need help with ANY of your college applications, check the C&CC calendar in the Google Classroom or on the C&CC page on the school website for workshop dates and times.  Get help while it is available!!!!

*All students, if you received a work permit last year it expired on 9/5.  Please make sure you complete a new work permit application for this year and maintain your GPA at 2.0 or higher so it doesn’t get pulled.

*Scholarship information is posted in the senior Google classroom.

*All students are encouraged to join the College & Career Center Google Classroom for their grade level to receive information that is important, including but not limited to college rep visits, college application workshops, college and career readiness exploration, C&CC field trips, and work permit application requirements.  The Google class codes are available in the College & Career Center.

Athletics:

Softball information meeting for All interested in playing softball this season. Meeting Thursday September the 20th after school at the varsity softball field. We will have tryout information at this meeting.

Any girl interested in trying out for the girls’ basketball program, please see Coach Murray in room C105.

Faculty Section

English teachers (or any other teachers), my goal is to have all students enrolled in the College & Career Center Google classroom so they are aware of the college & career exploration resources are available to them.  Please email me if you would like to schedule a class period for your students to join the classroom and be introduced to the C&CC resources.
