Message from Dr. Eric Riegert
We would like to welcome our returning students and incoming families, freshmen, and new students to OHS to what I am sure will be a terrific 2012/2013 School Year. I am very excited to begin my third year as Principal of Oxnard High School and 7th as a Principal. Oxnard High School has a rich history spanning over 100 years and I am looking forward to working with you to write the next chapter. Our District Wide focus this year will be Student Engagement, Public Relations and Customer Service. We look forward to meeting the needs of the wonderful students, caring parents, dedicated staff members and proud alumni of Oxnard High School. Our community has come to expect excellence from us and Yellow Jackets continue to deliver excellence every year. This is evidenced due to the fact that we are dedicated to ensuring powerful teaching and learning environments in our classes and dominance in our extra-curricular programs where Yellow Jackets, BUZZ!
Oxnard High School continues to be revered as an Educational Leader in Ventura County in many aspects. The OHS Academic Decathlon team over the least three years has been two time county champions as well as second place finalists last year. The OHS Band has performed all over Southern California placing high in many competitions. The Yellow Jacket AVID program (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is the largest in California and the second largest in the United States. OHS AVID is also recognized as a Demonstration program as well allowing us to take the lead state wide in this vital tutorial program. Oxnard High School Athletics won several Pacific View League titles last year and also sent teams to the playoffs in almost every sport. This success and others are due to the hard work of our staff and students and the support of our parents and stakeholders. To memorialize these efforts we have created the Oxnard High School Hall of Fame, which honors alumni for excellence in High School and after Graduation in all areas of society. Our second class of 2012 will be inducted this fall, preserving our rich History as an example for current and future Yellow Jackets.
Oxnard High School’s focus is to create a college-going culture encouraging every student to earn their diploma and be a-g qualified. Oxnard High School believes its graduates should be empowered individuals who become life-long learners and productive members of their community. Educational and social justice forms the foundation of what we believe in and is at the root of everything we strive for at Oxnard High School.

Estimados padres de familia y tutores:
Al comenzar mi tercer año como director, espero poder responder a las necesidades de gran alcance de la Escuela Preparatoria Oxnard. Nuestro personal estará trabajando duro para prepararse para la llegada de nuestros alumnos el 4 de septiembre. Estamos ansiosos y deseosos de ofrecer a nuestros estudiantes y padres de familia con un gran ciclo escolar 2012/2013. La escuela preparatoria Oxnard tiene una enriquecida historia que abarca más de 100 años y estamos mirando adelante para escribir el próximo capítulo con usted. Como siempre, la escuela preparatoria Oxnard está comprometida en proveer a sus estudiantes un nivel de excelencia en lo académico, deportivo y otras actividades.
En los últimos dos años, he podido comprobar, primeramente, un cuerpo docente excepcional que demuestra mejores prácticas de enseñanza y apoyo diariamente. Además, al hacer mi rutina diaria de observaciones en el aula, he visto a los estudiantes comprometidos y trabajando duro para hacer lo mejor que pueden ser. He sido testigo del apoyo que se ofrece para mantener la escuela limpia y segura, y asegurar que los jóvenes estén bien alimentados tanto con la nutrición y el conocimiento. He sido testigo del personal, tanto clasificado y certificado; y tomar posesión de sus respectivos ámbitos de competencia para garantizar que cada día trabajemos para mejorar nuestras áreas de servicio al cliente mejor que el día anterior. También he visto a nuestro personal colaborando con nuestras familias y grupos de interés de manera que sean significativos y en los mejores intereses de nuestra sociedad y nuestros estudiantes.
El Condado de Ventura es un lugar hermoso para vivir y la escuela preparatoria Oxnard es un maravilloso lugar para aprender y crecer. Mis mejores deseos para un verano seguro y relajante en preparación para un gran ciclo escolar 2012-2013.
